The Philadelphia region will dip its toe summer for a day Saturday as temperatures hit the 80s for the first time in 2025. Holy cow!

Unofficially, this combo of spring and summer is nicknamed "sprummer".

An onshore breeze will keep the Jersey Shore noticeably cooler with a sunny high of 70 degrees.

The record high for today in Philadelphia is 87 degrees set in 1945 and the average high for today is 58. It's not likely we will tie or break that 80-year-old record but these 80s are a bit early this year. Our average first date for 80 degrees is April 12.

In case you are wondering, the last time we saw 80 in Philadelphia was Nov. 6 of last year.

Skies will be mostly cloudy with breezy southwest winds gusting to 20 mph. It's those breezy winds combined with drought conditions and fairly low humidity that have created an elevated fire danger. Any fire could spread quickly. So, use extra caution with any outdoor flames today.

The unseasonable warmth continues Sunday and Monday with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid-70s on both days.

A few showers are possible Sunday night and Monday morning before a large and vigorous spring storm system arrives later on Monday.

Cloudy skies, showers possible in Phillies home opener weather forecast

Currently the weather for the Phillies home opener at 3:05 pm looks dry, but that could change if the storm headed to the Philadelphia area on Monday speeds up.

Right now it looks like we'll have the severe threat moving into the city after 6 p.m. – with first pitch at 3:05 p.m. the game should be wrapped up by then.
