Green Mountain Power has been working hard to address outages in Vermont on Saturday as the latest round of weather brought ice to trees and power lines in southern parts of the state. According to GMP, hundreds of customers were without power at 5:48 p.m. One of the areas GMP was seen working was in Rutland County. On VT Route 73 in Sudbury, crews worked to clear trees from the roadway. Will Kelley lives on the same section of road with his mother. He said they lost power after a tree hit their power lines. “We heard, like, a pop of the wire, and then the tree came down and then another pop, pop, pop — finally the power just started glitching, and it went off,” he said. “They're going to have to call in tree crews to deal with some of the overhanging trees because they're a safety hazard."Kelley said he and his mother are ok and that there is no damage to their home. One town east in Brandon, conditions were less severe, but NBC 5 saw ice on power lines and trees. Green Mountain Power Trucks were also seen in the area. "I didn't have Wi-Fi or any service where I am,” Alex Fiair, a Brandon resident, said. “Like an hour and a half, GMP already had it fixed, and we all had our power back."Both Fiair and Kelley said they're grateful for the services that Green Mountain Power provided.
